What We Do
At New Horizons, we engage in a diverse range of endeavors with the goal of making a positive impact on others. This exemplifies the potential for a collective effort to achieve significant results. Everyone within the New Horizons team specializes or works extra passionately in different areas with the support and assistance of our colleagues. Within our team we prioritize inclusion and that everyone feels comfortable with their work and with the people they work with.Our main priority has always been, and remains to be the general awareness of mental health as well as giving support where it is due. We firmly believe that, while we will never be able to completely remove the threat of people having hard times, we can give the right tools to climb the hole when and if it is reached. We believe that everyone has the right to be acknowledged and supported in their times of need. No one gets left behind.To achieve this, we collaborate with and have established partnerships with dedicated content creators on various streaming platforms, such as YouTube and Twitch, where we through events and larger projects dedicate ourselves to bringing people of all kinds together, with the objective of fostering a safer, more inclusive, and overall amicable online environment.We also work directly with local schools and have been making occasional visits for multiple years where we hold lectures about young literature and the important awareness of mental health, prioritizing optimization for every single visit.Additionally, we have focused and motivated developers working on a forum-based website to support strangers letting go and venting to other strangers - because we believe that sometimes, a listening ear is all you need.
Who We Are
Hello!I am Oliver, the founder of New Horizons. I am highly interested in psychology and behavioral science and plan to study it further in the future. I've been a resident of the northern regions of Sweden since birth. Within The New Horizons Project, I specialize in working directly with the youth, both locally through years of experience doing lectures at local schools for 3rd up to 9th graders as well as online through various different communities.New Horizons was established in the early months of 2016 by myself and two colleagues, Lauren and Madeline, from the United States. At its inception, it operated under the name "Into The Light" and served as a small, online support group for young individuals facing challenges related to mental health.
As time progressed, the individuals involved in the initial project, including myself, embarked on separate paths with distinct priorities and ideals. Consequently, the project was temporarily suspended until its reestablishment in early 2018. It was at this time that I decided to revive the project, now under the name Horizon, with a renewed commitment to its successful completion. This rebranded initiative is officially recognized as The New Horizons Project.In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have entered the year 2023 with an expanding membership base that continues to grow globally. We are a unified community dedicated to working collaboratively towards the betterment of the world around us.
